Pete McKay

January 1974

Pete is also a member of the WOLF two timers club having been at the station on three separate occasions. The first time as a student of Syracuse University on the part-time staff as Ron White. And the second in the summer of 1973. In the early 70's, part timers were given names that had already been sung in the jingle package. Ron White was the program director of WOLF's sister station WGRD in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Pete went on to WHEN and later to a teaching career. He landed for a third time at Big WOLF Country in 1982 and stayed on when Craig Fox, the current owner bought the station, as a jock on the oldies format which was short lived. Pete spent some years in cable and broadcast television but currently is an engineer at WCNY-FM.

Cowboy Roy Rosen

July 1974

As did Bob Mitchell, Roy worked in radio through high school, but for one of Charlotte's premier top forty stations, "BIG WAYS". He left Charlotte in the Summer of 1974 for WOLF and the night show. In the Fall of 1975, Roy returned to Charlotte to begin a new career path, by becoming a "Mobile Deejay". With literally his own stereo system and a "borrowed" turntable from a friend, Roy began his own very successful business as "Roy Rosen Productions" which continues today. This long before wedding Dee Jays were as popular as they are today. He still keeps his hand in radio occassionally in Charlotte.

This aircheck recorded 9/1/74, the Sunday before Labor Day.  Sunday mornings were traditionally hosted by Phil Allen, however he moved on to become President of a local bank branch and gave up his shift.  In this aircheck near the end you'll hear a young Joe Zone (yes the same) finishing his newscast.
